Each new collection that Pion Design releases seems to get even more amazing!  These new papers are just stunning.  I designed the largest of these handmade hinged trunks to measure 7″x9″x3″ and the smallest one measures 4″x6″x2 1/2″.  Each one opens to hold photos and other keepsakes.
Many wishes for a great day!
Tara

  • Wow Tara, you always make the most amazing projects! LOVE your suitcases!! I wish you guys would sometimes write step by steps, would absolutely love to know how you made these, – they look incredible! Are they just boxes with Tim Holtz corners? You are so clever!!ReplyCancel

    Dear Tara

This is simply stunning! Where in the world do you buy your embellishments? Please leave us a website where we can also purchase such lovely embellishments. Thanks for the joy your craft brings me!ReplyCancel

  • DT ~ Tara

    Hi Astrid and Barbie,
I made these hinged boxes and then used the Tim Holtz box corners to give the corners support and to also give them a real trunk look. The box corners, buckles, and clock faces with game spinners are Tim Holtz Idea-ology products. The bottom box blue compass and top box submarine and keyhole are “Explorer by Traditions” products, and the middle box heart with wings is a Spellbinders (A Gilded Life) product. The box handles are “Spare Parts” products, and the “Old World Key” is a “Fairytale by Bead Treasures” product. I hope this helps!
A heartfelt thank you to all for the super nice comments!ReplyCancel

Hi Tara I would like to purchase the templates for the luggage trunks. Can you let me know how to do this as I am struggling to do this. just love your work cant think how you come up with the wonderful ideas.ReplyCancel

    • DT ~ Tara

Hi Linda, Thanks so much for your comment! I don’t have that particular project anymore as I have already given it away, so I’m not able to give the exact dimensions of the boxes. I didn’t use a template – I just used chipboard to construct 3 hinged boxes of differing sizes and then covered them with Pion Design papers. These boxes are simple to make though. For each box, you will need to construct a base and a lid. For example, to make a 4″ x 6″ box, construct the base piece, by cutting 2 pieces of 4″ x 4″ chipboard for the sides, 2 pieces of 4″ x 6″ chipboard for the front and back, and one piece of 4″ x 6″ for the floor. Adhere the pieces together for the base piece. For the lid, you would need 2 pieces of 1″ x 4″ chipboard pieces for the sides and 2 pieces of 1″ x 6″ chipboard for the front and back, and one piece of 4″ x 6″ for the top. Adhere these together for the lid piece. Once the base piece and the lid piece have been constructed, you will need a hinge mechanism to attach the lid piece to the base piece. I used small metal hinges I found at a craft store. I hope this helps! TaraReplyCancel
